As it relates to original question in this thread, one of MY must haves in an electric cart is better than average range. IMO more batteries makes a difference. (8) 6 volt batteries will have more range on a charge than than (6) 8 volt batteries and I will not even talk about 4 12 v batteries .
When I buy a used cart it either must have 8 6 volt batteries or must have the space under the body that I can upgrade, like the Club Car in my picture.
I bought my Club car with DEAD batteries which was perfect for me as I did not want the 6 8 volt batteries and I now have it ready to go to the welder to put in rails to hold the additional 2 batteries. I stripped everything off the frame so I could stick in in my SUV instead of paying the welder to come get it
The next thing high up on my list of things I want in MY cart is the ability to go uphill without losing too much speed. Part of my project is to build my Club Car to go up hills like an EZGO RXV without compromising too much on the range, I think I can, but time will tell, the goal is 40 - 45 miles per charge.
BTW, my other cart (in one piece and runs ) is a Par Car (8 T105s).
Will do. I have another thread somewhere on this I was planning to update. As it relates to original question in this thread, one ofmust haves in an electric cart is better than average range. 5 QUESTIONS TO ASK WHEN YOU'RE BUYING A GOLF ...
At X-IT Outdoors, we carry the largest wholesale golf cart inventory in the region, and weve helped countless organizations to purchase entire golf cart fleets. But just because we know a lot about golf carts doesnt mean everyone else does. In fact, many of our customers know only one fact that they need golf carts. If you dont know much about golf carts, it can be difficult knowing which one to buy, especially when youre presented with a selection such as the one we have at X-IT Outdoors full of many different options.
But dont worry, were here to help. There are a few things you should consider when buying a golf cart, much less a whole fleet of them. Ask yourself the following questions when youre shopping for a golf cart:
WHATS THE MAKE AND MODEL?
If youre anything like most other people, you probably dont have a shortlist of golf cart makes, models, and serial numbers that youve memorized. Thats okay; if you knew everything in the world about golf carts, we probably would have asked for you to work with us by now. When youre shopping for golf carts, you dont need to know every little thing about every golf cart model, but on the other hand, you also dont want to go in blind. The best compromise, then, is to know where to start if you want to quickly learn some valuable information about the carts youre looking at.
In that regard, youll benefit a lot from paying attention to the make, model, and serial number of the golf cart in question. These things can all provide valuable information about the vehicle with just a little more research. The serial number can reveal how old the golf cart is, and there will be useful information about the make and model, such as parts availability and overall reliability.
As a general rule of thumb, golf carts arent terribly complex machines, which means that they tend to age pretty well. But if you want to play things safe by buying a newer model, thats a totally valid approach. But without doing basic research about the golf carts youre looking at, you might not get the information you need. Alternatively, feel free to ask us about the wholesale golf carts in our inventory; wed be happy to answer any questions you might have.

WHAT WILL THE GOLF CART BE USED FOR?
While most people conjure up a pretty similar image when theyre asked to visualize a golf cart, the reality is that there are many different features you can equip your golf cart with. You not only should know which ones youre looking for, but you should know how to identify whether or not theyre present on the golf carts youre looking at. At X-IT Outdoors, our wholesale selection varies wildly, from simple basic models to highly versatile and advanced vehicles.
The first and most obvious question is why you need golf carts in the first place. For example, will your golf carts be driving over rough terrain and hills? Youre going to want a golf cart with sufficient power and wheels to handle that. Are your golf carts intended to transport senior citizens or hotel tenants? Its probably better to look for carts that have generous seating. We could go on with a dozen more examples, but the point is that golf carts arent created equally each one of them is designed to fulfill a specific need. While there is plenty of overlap, you dont want to overpay buying a golf cart thats loaded with features youll never use.
DO YOUR GOLF CARTS NEED TO BE LICENSED?
At X-IT Outdoors, we operate out of Jacksonville, but weve had clients from other states and municipalities. Depending on where youre planning on using your golf carts, they may need to be licensed. Its easy to assume this is only if theyre driving in the streets, but on the contrary, many municipalities demand a license even just for normal use.
We can help point you in the right direction if you need your golf carts to be licensed. But this is something you should be aware of before you make your purchase you dont want to purchase an entire fleet and then realize youre not even qualified to drive them!
WHAT KIND OF GAS IS BEST?
Golf carts are much smaller and simpler than the average car, making them an ideal candidate for electric motors. But that doesnt mean every golf cart is battery powered. There are plenty of carts that take traditional gasoline or diesel, and these arent really better or worse it depends on your situation. Each setup has its own pros and cons.
Electric golf carts are nice because they can be recharged, meaning you dont have to endlessly put gas into them. But if youre buying a fleet, youll need to determine whether or not you have the capacity to charge all of them, and you should also keep in mind that electric batteries may need to be replaced after a certain amount of usage. Gas carts have the pros and cons youll find in any traditional vehicle youll be regularly paying for gasoline, but its also more straightforward and consistently dependable.
If youre unsure of what fuel type is ideal for your fleet, dont be afraid to ask us! We can help you determine what kind of golf cart is the most well-suited for your organization.
WHAT ACCESSORIES DO YOU WANT?
The fun thing about golf carts is their potential to be decked out with all manner of accessories. You can load up your golf cart with special racks, seats, mirrors, windshields, and so on. Some of the golf carts in our inventory already have these features built-in. Before you go shopping, its a good idea to familiarize yourself with all the different ways you can customize a golf cart. If you know exactly what you want, itll be that much easier to buy a golf cart when you see one that already has the features you want!
