Masimo and the Birth of SET® Pulse Oximetry

With competitive price and timely delivery, SHINDARY sincerely hope to be your supplier and partner.

Joe Kiani, Founder and CEO of Masimo, established the company to enhance the capabilities of pulse oximeters by utilizing adaptive signal processing. This innovative approach led to the development of the Masimo SET® Measure-through Motion and Low Perfusion' pulse oximetry technology.

Since its launch, Masimo SET® has demonstrated its superiority over alternative pulse oximetry methods in over 100 independent studies. Today, it is the preferred choice in leading hospitals worldwide, monitoring more than 200 million patients annually.

Oxygen Analyzers

Advantages and Disadvantages of Oxygen Analyzer Measurement Systems

The current range of oxygen analyzers we provide is organized as follows.

Zirconia Type Measurement System:

  • Concentration Cells: ZR22G/ZR802, ZR202G, ZR202S, and OX400
  • Limiting Current Type: OX100 and OX102

Magnetic Type Measurement System:

  • Paramagnetic System: MG8G and MG8E

Tunable Diode Laser Measurement System:

  • Tunable Diode Laser Measurement System: TDLS

Each measurement method presents its own advantages and disadvantages, making it essential to choose an oxygen analyzer that's suitable for your specific requirements. Below is a detailed examination of each measurement type.

Zirconia Type Measurement System

Concentration Cell System

Zirconia, as a solid electrolyte, conducts oxygen ions at elevated temperatures. When porous platinum electrodes connect to both sides of the zirconia and expose it to gases with differing oxygen concentrations, the device functions as an oxygen concentration cell, generating electromagnetic force based on Nernst’s equation.

Advantages

  • Directly installs into combustion processes such as boiler flues, eliminating the need for a sampling system while ensuring faster response times (e.g., ZR22G, ZR202G).
  • Capable of measuring trace oxygen concentrations (e.g., OX400).

Drawbacks

  • Measurement errors may occur if the sample gas contains a flammable substance; however, combustion exhaust gases typically do not present this issue.

Limiting Current Type

This system displays a stable current when the flow of oxygen is limited entering the cathode of a heated zirconia element. The constant current correlates with the oxygen concentration.

Advantages

  • Don’t require extensive calibration but must be calibrated only on the span side (air).

Drawbacks

  • Measurement errors can arise in the presence of flammable gases.
  • Dust accumulation may clog gas diffusion holes at the cathode side, necessitating a pre-filter.

Magnetic Type Measurement System

Paramagnetic System

This method capitalizes on the paramagnetic properties of oxygen. A gas sample with oxygen is drawn into a magnetic field, which subsequently reduces the flow rate in one of the two gas streams. The difference in flow rates relates directly to the sample's oxygen concentration. These rates are processed and transformed into electrical signals.

Advantages

  • Applicable for measuring flammable gas mixtures, which zirconia analyzers cannot handle.
  • No contact with the sample gas in the detection section, allowing for corrosive gas measurements.
  • Offers quicker responses than other methods among magnetic systems.
  • More robust in the face of vibrations or shocks.

Drawbacks

  • Requires a sampling unit tailored to the specific properties of the sample gas.

Tunable Diode Laser Measurement System

Tunable Diode Laser Measurement System

Tunable Diode Laser (TDL) analyses rely on absorption spectroscopy. A TDL system operates by detecting the amount of infrared laser light absorbed as it passes through the measured gas. The TDL analyzer consists of a laser, optical lenses to direct the light, and a detector that converts the signals into data representative of gas concentrations, all while adhering to Beer’s Law.

Advantages

  • Effective for analyzing numerous near-infrared absorbing gases under challenging conditions.
  • Can operate under extreme temperatures and pressures, including corrosive environments.
  • In-situ measurements minimize installation and maintenance costs.
  • Rapid measurement capabilities (≈5 seconds), with minimal interference.

Drawbacks

  • Initial setup for mounting flanges is necessary.
