Qifeng are exported all over the world and different industries with quality first. Our belief is to provide our customers with more and better high value-added products. Let's create a better future together.
In the last few months, weve been able to increase our capacity from 520,000 litres per year to 1,700,000 litres. This means we can produce three times more oil a day thanks to two lucky finds.
Demand for Hillfarm Oil has grown dramatically in recent years. Even working around the clock, our single press couldnt produce the volumes of oil we wanted. So, last year, we decided it was time to expand with more presses for our solar-powered production barn.
Our first stroke of luck
We were prepared for a long and difficult search to find a UK-based machine that fitted our exact requirements. So, when we were contacted about an available seed oil press at the end of , we couldnt believe our luck. It was about six years old but had never been used. Whats more, it had never even been taken out of its wooden packing case. It had been purchased, we discovered, by an electricity generating company to press oil to run their generators in the event of a worldwide meltdown. The companys plan was to press rapeseed oil to help fuel their generators. As the meltdown had yet to occur, they decided to sell their press and so contacted us at Hillfarm. When the press finally arrived, we opened the huge wooden packing case and found an outstanding German-built press in perfect working order inside. Wed hit the jackpot.
More good fortune
Not long after, at the beginning of , a farming business in Kent contacted us about a rapeseed oil pressing plant theyd invested in back in the early s to produce electricity for their off-grid farm buildings. As government subsidies for producing fuel had long since been removed, they hadnt used the press for many years and were looking to sell their pressing plant lock stock and barrel. We visited to take a look and the next week they loaded it all onto a 40-foot artic lorry. It arrived at Hillfarm just before the April lockdown started.
Our two new presses provided the perfect lockdown project for our engineers, who have worked hard to clean up all the machinery and install them inside our solar powered production barn.
How do our presses work?
All of our presses are screw presses. This means the rapeseed seeds fall into one end of the screw, which is surrounded by housing with lots of small holes in it (smaller than the seeds). As the thread of the screw rotates, it pushes the seeds along the thread to the end of the screw. The seed comes out through a small hole in the housing at the end of the screw. Because this hole is very small, the seed is under great pressure as it is pushed along the thread. It is this pressure that gently squeezes the oil out of the seed and through the smaller holes in the housing surrounding the screw. So actually cold squeezed would be a good term for our oil!
The oil is collected in a large tank below the presses. At this stage, it contains a lot of sediment so we pass the oil through a filter to ensure it is perfectly clean before being bottled and sent out to customers.
The meal that comes out the end of our presses is then saved for animal feed so local pigs can benefit from its nutritional value nothing is wasted at Hillfarm!
What makes Hillfarm Oil extra virgin?
Our cold pressing method does not use any chemicals, additives or heat at all. Our gentle, natural process protects all of the naturally occurring vitamins, omegas and compounds in our specially selected varieties of rapeseed, as well as its delicious flavour.
As all our oil is squeezed out from the first press and no chemicals or heat are used during pressing, its described as extra virgin as well as cold pressed. This means its ideal for dressing and dipping as well as frying, roasting and baking. A true all-rounder, hillfarm oil really is the only oil any chef or home cook needs unless, of course, youd like to cook up some quick and tasty meals with the flavoured cold pressed oils in our shop!hillfarm
What equipment is needed for the extraction of rapeseed oil?
Three types of rapeseed oil extraction machine are commonly used: rapeseed oil pressing machine, rapeseed oil solvent extraction machine and rapeseed oil refining machine. What equipment is needed for the extraction of rapeseed oil and the differences in the rapeseed oil they produce? Let me briefly introduce you

The rapeseed oil press machine uses the action of external mechanical forces to press the pre-treated rapeseed, squeezing the oil out of it to obtain pressed rapeseed oil. The rapeseed oil obtained by rapeseed oil press machine does not contain additives, and its nutrient content is relatively ideal, but the content of residual oil in the cake after pressing on the rapeseed oil press machine is high, and a single use will lead to oil loss. Therefore, in the extraction of rapeseed oil, oil refineries often use pre-press solvent extraction to increase the yield of rapeseed oil, which requires the use of rapeseed oil solvent extraction machine.

Rapeseed oil solvent extraction machine
The rapeseed oil solvent extraction machine uses the solvent in full contact with the oil to produce oil, and the oil contained in the rapeseed oil is leached to extract blended oil. The boiling point of solvent and oil is different, and the solvent is evaporated to obtain leached rapeseed oil. The rapeseed oil solvent extraction machine can produce rapeseed oil with high solvent extraction efficiency, but the crude oil leached by the rapeseed oil solvent extraction machine contains a small amount of solvent residue. The leached crude oil must be refined before it can be eaten. Refined rapeseed oil can remove the solvent from the oil well and keep the oil safe. The leached meal is of good quality, can be used for livestock or animal feed and has a high product utilization rate.

Pressed oil and solvent extraction oil contain certain impurities. Some impurities are introduced during the manufacturing process, such as sediment, pomace powder, vegetable fibers and other impurities, while others are present in oils such as phospholipids, free fatty acids, pigments, etc. Impurities that affect the quality of rapeseed oil. Therefore, whether it is pressing or solvent extraction the oil, it must be purified with rapeseed oil refining machine to remove impurities from the oil. Rapeseed oil refining machine purposefully removes impurities from rapeseed oil through processes such as degumming, deoxidation, dehydration, decolorization and oil deodorization to ensure the quality and food safety of rapeseed oil. Refined rapeseed oil is more suitable for the taste of the general public, and can also extend the shelf life of rapeseed oil. Refined rapeseed oil can only enter the market for sale after passing inspection.

Generally, rapeseed oil pressing machine and rapeseed oil solvent extraction machine mainly extract oil from oil seeds. This oil is called crude oil and needs to be processed. Rapeseed oil refining machine is designed to clean the extracted crude oil from impurities and harmful elements. Refined oil is the finished edible rapeseed oil that we usually see in supermarkets.
