Double Cone Mixers - Industrial Mixers & Mills

Unlocking Efficiency: The Power of Double Cone Mixers in Industrial Processing

Double cone mixers have become indispensable tools in various industries, revolutionizing the blending and processing of powders, granules, and solids. In this article, we will explore the key features, benefits, applications, and advantages of double cone mixers, illustrating their crucial role in modern industrial processes.

What are Double Cone Mixers?

Double cone mixers, or double cone blender machines, are versatile industrial machines designed for efficient cone-shaped mixing of powders, granules, and dry materials. Their unique design promotes gentle yet thorough blending, ensuring homogeneity and consistency in the final product.

Key Features:

  1. Double Cone Design: The distinct shape enhances tumbling motion in the blending chamber, promoting efficient mixing. This design allows materials to flow freely, preventing segregation and ensuring uniform particle distribution.
  2. Material Handling: Double cone mixers accommodate a wide range of materials, including pharmaceuticals, chemicals, food products, and more, making them an ideal choice for diverse mixing needs.
  3. Gentle Blending: Their gentle action minimizes the risk of product degradation or alteration, which is advantageous for materials sensitive to shear forces or heat.

Applications:

  1. Pharmaceutical Industry: Extensively used for blending powders and granules, double cone mixers ensure the integrity of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), crucial for high-quality medications.
  2. Food Processing: These mixers homogenously blend various ingredients like spices, powdered flavors, and nutritional supplements without compromising quality and taste.
  3. Chemical Manufacturing: They facilitate uniform mixing of chemicals and powdered substances, essential for achieving precise formulations and meeting stringent quality standards.

Advantages:

  1. Homogeneous Blending: The tumbling motion generated by the double cone design ensures consistent blending, minimizing material segregation and guaranteeing a homogeneous end product.
  2. Time and Cost Efficiency: Quick blending reduces processing times and lowers operational costs. The design allows easy loading, unloading, and cleaning, further streamlining production.
  3. Versatility: Capable of handling various materials, these mixers offer versatility across industries, enhancing their appeal.

Double cone mixers have emerged as essential tools for industries requiring precise and efficient blending. Their unique design, versatile applications, and numerous advantages make them a cornerstone of modern manufacturing processes. Investing in a quality double cone mixer can significantly enhance production efficiency and product quality, making it a suitable choice for businesses striving for excellence.

Double Cone Blender MBC - Mixing Equipment INOXPA

The main body of the blender consists of two cone-shaped sections welded at their bases to a central cylindrical section. The rotation axis is perpendicular to the cone axis and passes through the cylindrical section. The driving motor is located at one of the two lateral supports holding the blender body. Solids are introduced into the blender through the loading aperture. Mixing occurs axially as the powder moves through different sections. While mixing is thorough, it depends on the rotation speed. The mixture is discharged through a hermetically closing butterfly valve, which can be operated manually or automatically. The skid includes an electrically secured safety perimeter guard to prevent access during use. In the event of accidental access, the process will stop for safety reasons.

This series consists of 6 models, with total capacities ranging from 160 liters, offering a useful capacity of 65% of the total. This blender is especially designed for sensitive mixtures at risk of breakage where dust generation should be avoided. Mixing times vary between 5 and 20 minutes, depending on the mixture. There are two apertures: the loading and cleaning aperture, and the discharge opening, which incorporates a butterfly valve operated automatically or manually. The apertures are hermetically sealed to prevent external contamination during the mixing process. The interior incorporates a cone mounted on a pivot axis on both sides, eliminating dead spaces and facilitating gravity discharge.

The skid is manufactured from AISI 316 for all parts in contact with the product and AISI 304 for the rest of the equipment. The standard finish is Ra<0.8 on the inside and 2B on the outside. The equipment is easy to clean, both manually and with an automatic CIP system, thanks to its hygienic design and absence of entrapment areas. It features perimeter safety protection with a door and complies with EC safety standards.

The automatic stop positions include loading, unloading, and sampling. Before stopping at any of these positions, it performs a cycle to slow down the mixer for accurate positioning and a smooth stop. This equipment is designed, unlike the 'V'-type blender, to handle mixtures of granulated products and powders or those with varying densities, loading 65% of the total equipment capacity, compared to the 50% loading in a 'V'-type blender.
