The Avatr 11 (Chinese: 阿维塔11; pinyin: Ā wéi tǎ 11; pronounced "one one", not "eleven") is a fully-electric mid-size luxury crossover SUV announced in late 2021 by Avatr Technology and on sale since August 2022. Avatr is a joint venture between Changan Automobile, lithium-ion battery provider CATL, and Huawei. The Avatr 11 is underpinned by the EP1 platform. In 2018, Changan and Nio initially formed a joint venture, but CATL replaced Nio as the second biggest shareholder when Nio withdrew during a financial crisis. Currently, Changan holds 40.99% of shares, and CATL owns 17.1%. While Huawei owns no shares in Avatr, it supplies the electric motors and software for intelligent driving, connectivity, and infotainment.

Overview

The Avatr 11 is a mid-size luxury fastback crossover available in both four-seat and five-seat configurations. The interior features a sophisticated dashboard with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 15.6-inch infotainment screen, and a 10.25-inch passenger display. Additional amenities include two wireless charging pads and a 14-speaker sound system featuring Road Noise Cancellation and an Active Sound Enhancement system. The Avatr 11 leverages Huawei's HarmonyOS and DriveONE twin-motor four-wheel-drive systems. As the second co-developed brand of Huawei to be featured in its stores, following AITO by Huawei and Seres, the Avatr 11 boasts 34 sensors, including 3 LiDARS, for advanced driving assistance on highways and urban roads, incorporating features such as lane change assist, traffic light recognition, and pedestrian detection.

The pricing for the Avatr 11 starts at $51,800, offering three trim levels, all featuring a dual-motor AWD setup as standard. Deliveries for the two more affordable variants are scheduled to begin in December 2022, with the top-tier model expected in the first quarter of 2023. Additionally, Avatr offers a limited edition variant named Avatr 011, priced at RMB 600,000.

Specifications

The Avatr 11 is powered by dual electric motors delivering a combined output of 578 hp and 479 lb-ft (650 Nm) of torque, developed by Huawei. The front motor produces 265 hp, while the rear motor delivers 313 hp. Powering these motors is a CATL-supplied CTP (cell-to-pack) ternary lithium-ion battery pack, available in 90.38 kWh for the standard trim and 116.79 kWh for the flagship model. The Avatr 11 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in under 3.98 seconds, achieving a top speed of 200 km/h (120 mph). Models equipped with the 90.38 kWh battery offer a range of 555 km (345 mi) according to the Chinese testing cycle (CLTC), while those with the 116.79 kWh battery can cover 680 km (420 mi). The 750V high-voltage platform also supports 240 kW charging, adding 200 km (120 mi) of range within 10 minutes. The CPU offers 400 TOPS, surpassing Tesla's 36 TOPS.

Avatr 11 Is 570-HP Electric SUV From China With Huawei...

China's electric vehicle market keeps growing – both in terms of sales and the number of automakers. One of the latest companies to start doing business in the country's EV sector is called Avatr – a joint venture between Changan Automobile, lithium-ion battery provider CATL, and Huawei. The Avatr 11 (pronounced "one one", not "eleven") is the brand's first production model and it is surely something that deserves our attention despite the fact that there are no plans for a US market launch for the time being.

Our friends at Wheelsboy recently had the chance to test the Avatr 11 and they were kind enough to share an exclusive photo gallery with us, which you can find embedded below. At the top of this page, you can also watch the YouTube channel's 12-minute video review of the electric SUV. There are a few very interesting highlights worth talking about.

First, the price. In China, the Avatr costs the local price equivalent of between $47,000 and $63,000, which makes it slightly more expensive in base price than the Tesla Model Y for the local market. The 11, however, is longer at 192.1 inches (versus 187 inches for the Model Y) and wider at 77.6 in (77.5 in for the Model Y).

There's performance to match the price, too. The dual-motor version featured in this video uses Huawei-sourced electric motors and has a peak output of 578 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. This is enough for a 0-62 miles per hour sprint in just under 4.0 seconds. CATL provides the battery, which in this case has a capacity of 116 kilowatt-hours for a range of up to 420 miles on China's CLTC.

One thing you'd expect at this price point is a standard air suspension. The Avatr 11 doesn't have that feature even as an option, but that doesn't seem to hurt the SUV's ride quality or handling, according to this review. How does the vehicle feel on the road, how's the Huawei tech, and how fast the SUV actually is? The video at the top of this page has all the answers.
