Meal Prep Recipes For When You Have No Microwave or Fridge At Work
When there is no microwave or fridge that doesnt have to be what stops you from eating healthy, satisfying meals!
Some days, you can store your meal-prepped lunch in a refrigerator. Some days, you have access to a microwave to heat up your meal to your hearts content. But some days, you just dont!
Ive been there. At my first job, fridge space was hard to come by, especially when the New Years resolutions to spend less money buying lunch rolled in every January. But secretly, Im grateful for my limited fridge access because it helped me find recipes I felt confident eating at room temperature. After all, theres nothing worse than being ravenous and having to wait in line for the work microwave (that somehow seems to break once a week).
Whether youre on the go, between classes at school or there is no microwave or fridge at work, Ive rounded up delicious recipes that I love and are perfect (and safe) to keep at room temperatureno reheating necessary.
How do you keep lunch cold without a fridge? Before we get into the recipes, lets talk about the tools youll need for success. The right lunchbox and ice pack combination can be just what you need to put your mind at ease over not refrigerating your food. These are some of your best options.

Be careful to pack your food in an insulated bag with an ice pack and youll at least double its lifespan. If youre really worried, you can pop a small thermometer in your lunch bag to keep an eye on the temp. Luckily, in most cases, youll be just fine if you use your judgment. Dont eat anything that smells bad or looks funny, and if the first bite doesnt taste quite right put it down, but odds these no-reheat recipes wont let you down.

Talk with your doctor or consult a nutritionist to ensure you create a healthy meal plan that meets nutritional needs. You can also find allergy-safe allergy-safe meal plans on the internet.
Set a food allergy budget
Look at your overall finances and map out a food allergy meal plan that accounts for what you know you can afford each week and each month. Buying allergy-safe foods is paramount, and these can sometimes be pricey, but they do not have to break your budget. Find ways to save by using coupons or buying in bulk.
Be sure to include in your overall budget the out-of-pocket cost of epinephrine auto-injectors prescribed by your primary care doctor or allergist.
