I am in the process of purchasing some valves for a client based on their datasheets.
1. The CL 150 valves specify RPTFE seats, but the supplier is offering filled PTFE and High-performance PTFE seats.
2. The CL 600 valves specify PEEK seats, yet the supplier is providing Teflon seats.
Are these acceptable alternatives? What properties should I compare to determine if these materials are suitable substitutes?

19 Dec 18 17:01Teflon is the brand name for PTFE, so it appears that your supplier is only providing one type of seat material (PTFE), regardless of the specification. RPTFE stands for Reinforced PTFE - to determine what was specified versus what was supplied, you would need to consult the specifications for the exact material to determine the filler material (likely glass) and its percentage.
Though it's not very helpful, it highly depends on your application. Generally, if an application calls for PEEK, PTFE would likely not be an acceptable alternative. While PTFE has excellent chemical resistance across a wide range of chemicals, PEEK boasts far superior mechanical properties, especially at high temperatures. Additionally, PTFE, being a fluoropolymer, might offer slightly better chemical resistance than PEEK. However, "better" is relative, and you would need to examine the specs for each material to determine compatibility with the chemicals in your working fluid.
